1. Planting: Start by digging a hole three times wider than the plant’s root ball. The hole should be deep enough for the plant to sit level with or slightly above the surrounding ground. Gently separate tightly bound roots and place the plant in the hole, then backfill with soil, avoiding the rootball. For best results, plant the Autumn Sunburst Encore Azalea in well-draining acidic soil mixed with rich gardening soil. Top the soil with 3-4 inches of mulch to retain moisture without covering the rootball. Ensure the plant gets 4-6 hours of direct sun daily for optimal blooms.
