With its uncaged heat, the spiciness of the Japones is the dominant experience you will have when consuming this pepper!
These grow on short, 2 ft. tall plants and have great production of spicy 2″ pepper pods. They look very similar to Santaka Hot Peppers, except a little skinnier and with slightly less heat. You’ll see these pods ripen from green to a shiny bright red when they’re ready to be picked.
Japones peppers are popular with Asian, Latin, and Caribbean cuisines known to bring a certain amount of spiciness to each dish. You can add the dried Japones chiles as a whole in the dish or crush them as chili flakes or powder to spice up your meal. Try growing the Japones pepper plant in your garden today!
