Planting Instructions: Before youre ready to plant your tree, select a location that adequately accommodates your Sequoias mature size. Its also important for your tree to receive at least 6 to 8 hours of sun per day, preferably in a well-drained location.
After youve selected your location, dig a hole thats at least two to three times wider than your Sequoias root ball. Once youve placed your Sequoia Tree, back fill its soil, tamp down to avoid air pockets and lastly, water to help establish its roots.
Other than proper planting and watering, your Sequoia doesnt need much. Pruning and fertilizing arent necessary since it thrives without extra care.
Watering: The Sequoia Tree is low-maintenance (particularly since its remarkably pest and disease resistant), but an adequate watering schedule is important. Water your tree regularly, about once a week, to maintain soil moisture.
If youre not sure when to water your Sequoia, or how much to water, simply check its surrounding soil, down to around 2 or 3 inches. If you feel that the soil in this area is dry, its time to water. The surrounding soil should be moist but not oversaturated.
